As a corporation specializing in employment screening, Verifications, Inc. is provided, and we provide, extremely sensitive and personally identifiable information about individuals. This information may include, but is not limited to, full name, previous names used, Social Security Number, date of birth, phone numbers, residential address, credit information, employment history, academic history, and criminal record history. We provide screening services only to businesses with a permissible purpose. We release information via telephone, fax, mail and secure electronic transmission, only to the individual(s) or business(s) that originally requested the service. Under no circumstances will the personal information collected and maintained in our databases ever be sold or provided to an outside entity for any purpose. Verifications, Inc. does not use our databases of applicant information to compile mailing lists for sales or any other purpose.
This Privacy Policy covers the information practices of Verifications, Inc. and describes the principles Verifications, Inc. follows with regard to information submitted by our clients and their applicants and employees, and to other data that we collect from third parties and other sources in connection with the services we provide. These information privacy principles have been implemented by all Verifications, Inc. personnel regardless of their location. All data shall be collected, stored and used in compliance with applicable law, which may include the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act ("FCRA"), individual state background screening and privacy laws, the European Union Data Protection Directive and other national and international laws.
Notice
Our clients provide us with personally identifiable information of individuals, such as their applicants, so that we may prepare a report upon their request. (These reports are referred to by several different names including: Background Report, Consumer Report, Investigative Consumer Report, Background Screening Report; Background Check, and others.) In all cases, our clients have certified to Verifications, Inc. that they will provide disclosure to the subject of the report that a background investigation will be performed and that personal data may be gathered for the purpose of completing the Background Investigation Report. Our clients further certify to us that they will receive consent from the individual before a Background Investigation Report is requested.
Personal information gathered may include employment and academic history, driver's license information, reference information and other credentials related to your prospective employment. Verifications, Inc. will use such information only for the purposes of performing employment screening and credential verification services, including to verify the accuracy of the personal information and to check on references. In addition to the data that is submitted to Verifications, Inc. by our clients, Verifications, Inc., may collect data from third parties as needed to process academic, residential, achievement, job performance, attendance, litigation, personal history, credit reports, driving records, criminal history records and other lawful checks. A Background Investigation Report may be prepared summarizing this information. Prior employers and/or references may be contacted, and the report may include information obtained through personal interviews regarding the applicant's character, general reputation, personal characteristics and/or mode of living. We may provide all such information to our client (your current or prospective employer) in one or more reports. Verifications, Inc. may also collect email correspondence from visitors to this Site who send email to Verifications, Inc.
Choice
If you are a U.S. resident and you do not wish to have your personal data made available to our client (your current or prospective employer), please do not authorize our client to procure a Background Investigation Report. By consenting to the procurement of a Background Investigation Report, and submitting information to our client, you are agreeing to allow Verifications, Inc. to disclose information about you to our client and to our sharing that information with our subcontractors.
If you are a European Union resident or reside in other countries where Verifications, Inc. is doing business, you may choose not to submit personal information to Verifications, Inc. through this Site or through forms provided by our client for that purpose. You have been provided a consent form either by us or our client. By filling out and submitting the consent form you expressly agree to provide personally-identifying information, and you consent to our use of that information in accordance with the Verifications, Inc. Privacy Policy.
Onward Transfer
In connection with our providing services, we may in some instances, employ other companies and individuals as our subcontractors to perform functions on our behalf. Subcontractors are contractually obligated to use and maintain the confidentiality of personal information in a manner consistent with this Privacy Policy. These companies may not share any such information with any third party, other than Verifications, Inc.'s subcontractors or clients. Except as described in this Privacy Policy, or required by law, we will not use or otherwise disclose any of the personally -identifying information that you provide or that we collect from third parties or other sources.
Data Integrity
Verifications, Inc. has taken and will continue to take appropriate measures to assure the security of personal data. Any personal data transmitted to or from this Site is protected by a secure socket layer (SSL) key which encrypts the data transmitted over the Internet. Personal data on our servers is stored in a secure manner. Access to those servers and data is strictly limited to authorized personnel of Verifications, Inc., who have been trained to protect against loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration or destruction of personal data under the control of Verifications, Inc.
Access
All subjects of consumer reports have the right of access to any reports Verifications, Inc. produces and maintains on them. You may contact Verifications, Inc., as set out at the end of this Privacy Policy, at any time to determine whether we hold any personal information about you and to obtain access to that information. For your protection, we will require proof of identity, including proper verification and confirmation that you are the individual who is entitled to request access, before providing information to you. If, for good reason, we are unable to provide you with access to your data or to correct data, we will let you know. Otherwise, we will mail to you if you are a U.S. resident a copy of the report about you within 7 days, as it has been provided to your current or prospective employer, at no charge (as mandated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act.). If you are an EU resident or a resident of any other country where Verifications, Inc. is doing business, you may contact us at any time to determine whether we hold personal data about you and for purposes of reviewing your personal information. If you wish to have access to that information or to correct information that you have already received from us, please contact Verifications, Inc. as listed below.
Children
This Site is not intended for children under 13 years of age. That is why, consistent with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, we will not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
