DRIVING RECORDS

A driving record check can help you validate the driver's license and driving history of individuals who drive company vehicles or who drive on company business. Verifications offers checks of state driving record databases as well as a check of the Commercial Driver License Information System (CDLIS).

Driving Record Check

Our Driving Record check verifies an individual's driver's license number, the license status, the class of the license, expiration and issue dates, endorsements, restrictions and points, where available, by conducting a check through state of license issuance. The report includes full detail for up to seven years of history, depending on the state.

A Summarized Driving Record report is also available and contains information pertaining only to violations, accidents, and actions taken against a driver's license such as suspension or revocation information instead of the comprehensive data reported in the standard Driving Record check.

The following states require the employer to sign an additional compliance statement to retrieve driving records: AR, CO, DE, GA, MD, MI, NH, OH, PA and WA. Additionally, NH, PA (unless the employer signs an affidavit) and WA require the applicant to sign a state authorization form. Driving records are also available as an Instant Check in 40 states. Instant Check results are reported immediately after you've input applicable identifying information into our system.

Commercial Driver's License (CDLIS)

Established by the US Secretary of Transportation, the Commercial Driver License Information System (CDLIS) is a federal clearinghouse and repository of commercial driver licensing data. The system retains records of a driver's current commercial license and up to three previous licenses. A CDLIS search will not return actual driving records or suspensions; it only provides the state in which the driver currently has a commercial license and up to three previous licenses. You may also choose to conduct a Driving Record check for any or all of the states in which CDLIS indicates the driver has had a commercial license.
