Position Summary:

A hands-on, full-time exempt management position with responsibility for financial matters and practices of the company. This position prepares financial results of operations, including interim and final financial statements, supervises accounting personnel and maintains accounting records.

Primary Position Duties and Responsibilities:

Financial Operations

Development, analysis, and interpretation of statistical and accounting information in order to provide operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the organization.

  2. Maintain systems of accounts and keeps organized books and records on all company transactions, assets, and liabilities.
  3. Ensure fiscally sound, company-beneficial practices in processing and maintaining payables, disbursements, receivables, collection procedures, bank balances, credit lines, cash needs, profit sharing and payroll.
  4. Work closely with other departments, especially senior management, to achieve company objectives.
  5. Assists EVP of Finance in managing the company's corporate liability insurance programs for property, liability, and benefit purposes.
  6. Interact with and maintain positive, professional relationships with financial institutions such as banks, lending institutions, etc.
  7. Manage the month-end closing cycle; including accruals, bank reconciliations, depreciation schedules for capital equipment, debt reconciliations and payroll reconciliations.
  8. Supervises timely preparation and ensures accuracy of monthly financial statements. Ensures all supporting documentation is correctly prepared.
  9. Manages the annual audit of the Company's financial statements.
  10. Tax compliance.
  11. Assists in analyzing customer profitability and monthly financial operating results.
  12. Provides support in developing overhead allocation models, ROI analysis, budgeting, and reporting on trends and variances.
  13. Keeps accurate and organized financial records.

Supervision

  1. Manage accounting personnel as directed by EVP of Finance.
  2. Ensure equitable distribution of work, accuracy of work, efficient utilization of resources, and timely completion of all financial tasks.
  3. Participate and/or handle hiring and evaluation of staff members.
  4. Monitor productivity, accuracy, and work quality of team;

As a member of Management:

  1. Work closely with Executive Management to develop and implement strategies that support and advance the business objectives of the company.
  2. Function as part of the management team contributing to the overall development, growth, and success of the company; assisting EVP of Finance in strategic planning.
  3. Demonstrate and promote adherence to Corporate Mission and Values.
  4. Advise management and/or sales staff of potentially problematic situations.
  5. Promote a positive, productive, proactive work environment.
  6. Represent Verifications professionally and courteously.
  7. Keep confidential all applicant, client, and Verifications proprietary information.
  8. Other duties assigned.

Requirements

  • 4 year degree in Accounting.
  • CPA preferred, but not required.
  • Minimum four years accounting experience in private industry with increasing levels of responsibility or four years public accounting experience.
  • Knowledge of and experience with EDP-oriented accounting systems. Great Plains, ADP and FRX experience preferred.
  • Experience interacting with executive management
