POSITION: Human Resource Administrator
Department: Human Resources
Type: Non-exempt
Travel: As needed to other Business Center, about 10%
Location: Watertown, SD

Position Summary:

A full-time position with the main responsibilities of performing human resource administrative functions.

Primary Position Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in the hiring process:
    • evaluating applicant resumes/applications
    • answering calls from and providing information to applicants
    • scheduling and conducting any necessary pre-employment testing and interviews
    • updating applicant database
    • conducting pre-employment drug screens
  2. New Hire Process
    • preparing employee handbook materials and coordinate with their compilation with various locations
    • conducting new employee orientation
    • updating applicable forms and arranging for their announcement and publication
    • collecting all appropriate new hire forms
    • processing all insurance forms
    • adding new employee information to appropriate tracking spreadsheets
  3. Termination of employees
    • remove from all tracking spreadsheets and related distribution lists
    • send notice to insurance to cancel coverage
    • send cobra notice to third party administrator
    • complete and send summary letter to terminated employee
  4. Assist with implementation of HR related policies/procedures.
  5. Maintain a variety of reports regarding staff.
  6. Maintain information and integrity of all personnel files, including filing and imaging and secure information as requested/appropriate.
  7. Assist with periodic issues regarding the VI benefit package
  8. Prepare FMLA paperwork
  9. Answer routine HR questions and provide first call for help to HR email box.
GENERAL
  1. Keep confidential all applicant, client, and Verifications, Inc. proprietary information.
  2. Provide input for improvements in HR processes and systems.
  3. Assist with special projects as and duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • 1-5 years of HR experience
  • Bachelors degree or Human Resource education preferred.
  • Word, Excel and Outlook experience required; Access experience preferred
  • Self-motivated, independent and multi-task worker
  • Organized with strong attention to detail
  • Works well autonomously
  • Enjoys working in team environment
  • Enjoys fast paced environment
  • Demonstrates flexibility/adaptability to change
